Exploring the Aurora Your first day at sea is all about exploring the ship and settling in. Typically, the Limitless Team meets with everyone in the morning to catch up over breakfast, make sure you had a comfortable night, discuss the day ahead, and plan activities. We often lunch and dine as a group as well, so you’re never short of company.
During days at sea, there’s plenty to see and do on the Arvia. As a group, Limitless travellers often enjoy a relaxed morning, followed by a group lunch and some afternoon fun - be it a theatre show or a movie. Then it’s time to get dressed up for a delicious dinner, followed by some fantastic evening entertainment. Of course, how you spend your day is entirely up to you! But it’s good to know that the Limitless Team and your fellow travellers are always around too.
Onboard Entertainment Despite being a smaller ship, there is no shortage of entertainment options aboard the Aurora. With seven unique entertainment venues and a whole host of thrilling shows and performances to enjoy, there’s never a shortage of things to see or do. Whether you’re interested in playing a few hands with your fellow travellers in the Card Room or participating in the popular Wavelength interactive gameshow, there’s something to suit every taste.
While the 200-seater Playhouse Cinema and 600-seater Curzon Theatre are the ship’s flagship venues, the Aurora also boasts several smaller options, including Carmen’s Show Lounge, the PULSE nightclub, a silent disco and a lavish casino. Keep an eye out for special shows, too. The Aurora is well-known for its mind-blowing magic and musical spectaculars.
Port Visit Known as Norway’s mountain capital, Åndalsnes is situated on the edge of the towering Romsdal Alps and at the head of beautiful Romsdalsfjord. A small town that’s regularly used as a gateway for hikers, cyclists and mountaineers setting off on high-altitude adventures.
For Limitless Travellers, the remarkable landscapes and breathtaking natural environment are the town’s main attractions. The accessible Norsk Tindesenter museum is certainly worth a visit, providing fascinating insight into the history and development of mountaineering. Also accessible, the Romsdalsgondolen cable car rises 708 metres above sea level for epic 360 views from the restaurant at the top. Those interested in visiting the famous Trollstigen road nearby will need to book the excursion with P&O independently.
Restaurants & Bars With a total of 19 restaurants and bars, the Aurora caters to every taste and offers a fantastic range of dining and drinking opportunities. Whether you’re looking for fine dining experiences or a relaxed buffet-style lunch, there is something for everyone aboard the Aurora.
While the vast majority of the Auroras restaurants are included in your full-board package, a few venues require diners to pay a small surcharge. These include the popular Sindhu, with its delicious Indian-British fusion, The Glass House, where tapas dishes are paired with the perfect wine, and The Beach House, where Latin flavours run wild.
Port Visit The gateway to the Arctic Circle and a jumping-off point for wild adventures, Bodø is a vibrant Norwegian city surrounded by out-of-this-world natural landscapes. From white sandy beaches and gorgeous archipelagos to towering, snow-capped mountains, the region is simply spectacular.
With its charming wooden architecture, chic cafés, and modern shops, there’s plenty to enjoy in the town centre itself. Overlooked by the striking Nyholm Fortress, the quaint streets are enlivened with excellent street art and lined with plenty of great bars and restaurants, so you’re always able to take a moment to sit back and enjoy the local ambience. A little outside the city, the beautiful coastal trails are the perfect way to experience this epic landscape.
Port Visit Situated at the head of the gorgeous Ototfjord, Narvik is surrounded by majestic mountains, deep blue fjords and pristine arctic countryside. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, it is a historically important ice-free port and was also the site of a well-known World War II naval battle.
Today, one of the town’s main attractions is the wheelchair-accessible Narvikfjellet cable car, which ascends around 660 metres to the top of the local ski resort and the Fjellkaféen 656 mountain restaurant. Here, you can grab a bite to eat or a warming drink and enjoy the unparalleled views of the fjords below. Alternatively, the Museum Nord offers a fascinating insight into the town's history and pivotal role in WWII.
Pools & Spa With three swimming pools, the Aurora is well-equipped for when the weather warms up and you feel like cooling off with a refreshing dip. While the Riviera and Terrace pools are both outdoors, the glass-roofed Crystal Pool means you can enjoy a swim on cold-weather cruises, too.
Hoist equipment is available for Limitless Travellers who require it, ensuring everyone can enjoy the facilities. Whirlpool spas are attached to several of the pools and poolside refreshments are available at all three locations. The Aurora is also home to the fantastic Oasis Spa, a sanctuary of wellness where you can enjoy pampering treatments, exclusive therapies and a range of beauty services.
Though it’s a fair way north of the Arctic Circle, Tromsø boasts a remarkably mild climate for its latitude. While ice-free waters and westerly winds mean this vibrant city (it has the most bars per capita in all of Norway) may be a little warmer than usual, there’s still plenty of snow!
Tromsø boasts several excellent accessible attractions, including the local Troll Museum. Trolls play a crucial role in Norwegian folklore and legend and this brilliant museum explains why while also introducing visitors to many of its most famous troll-related tales. Alternatively, the Polar Museum details the expeditions, adventures and everyday lives of Arctic explorers from the 17th century to the modern day.
With a second day to explore Tromsø before the ship resumes its exploration of the mighty Norwegian fjords, it’s up to you whether you head ashore or take it easy and make the most of the onboard entertainment and leisure facilities.
If you do head into Tromsø, the Polaria Arctic Experience Centre boasts a fantastic arctic aquarium. Designed to help visitors learn about how animals, fish, plants, and people live side-by-side in the Arctic, it’s also home to bearded seals and other unique wildlife. If you just want to get a feel for the town and enjoy the local cafes, bars and restaurants, the Storgatta central shopping street is where you’ll find all the action. Finally, excursions to the Tromsø cable car are also possible, though the gondolas aren’t accessible for all travellers.
Up On-Deck The Aurora features plenty of on-deck space for relaxing, soaking up the sun or enjoying a picturesque approach into port. While Deck 13 is designated the official Sun Deck, there are spaces across all upper decks, with our favourites being the terraced decks overlooking the Terrace Pool.
Limitless Travellers can also participate in a range of on-deck games and activities, ranging from deck quoits to shuffleboard. The excellent Crow's Nest bar also benefits from a prominent position on the upper decks and boasts fantastic 270° views. It’s a great spot for pre or post-dinner drinks and often features relaxed live music.
Boutiques & Art Gallery The Aurora boasts several shops where you’ll find great deals on luxury items like cosmetics, perfume, jewellery, gifts, clothes and accessories. They stock products from some of the most respected brands on the market, making it easy to while away a morning browsing the ship’s boutiques for a fantastic holiday memento.
For those who enjoy a little culture, the on-board Clarendon Fine Art gallery is certainly worth a visit. There, you’ll find a host of paintings, collectables and other artworks that are sure to delight. You may even end up taking one home with you!
Port Visit Welcome to Haugesund - home of the Vikings. Though the town itself is relatively young, the local area was a hotbed of Viking activity, and the first king of Norway, Harald Fairhair, lived just 8 km from the modern settlement. After disembarking the Iona, we typically catch the accessible bus into the city centre to maximize your time there.
Known as the birthplace of modern Norway, Haugesund is a brilliant place to do some holiday shopping and its excellent restaurants ensure this stop is one for the foodies too. There’s also an accessible Hop-On, Hop-Off bus that takes you around all of the city’s main attractions. Finally, we would highly recommend visiting the fascinating Viking Planet museum to learn more about the area’s incredible history.
Sailing Home By now, you will have spent a few days exploring the Aurora and enjoying the facilities, activities and entertainment. But we guarantee there are still things you’re yet to see, do or find. Have you caught a movie at the Playhouse Cinema? Dined out at the ever-popular, Indian-Inspired Sindhu? Tried your luck at the opulent onboard casino?
As we make our way back to Southampton, this is a great opportunity to check out those parts of the Aurora you’re yet to see and return to your favourite spots. Or just relax in total comfort and reminisce about the places you’ve experienced over the course of your holiday. Have a chat with your Tour Manager in the morning and organise the perfect final day."
See You Next Time Following your final breakfast aboard the ship, the Limitless team will assist with check-out. The ship’s crew will take down your bags, and we’ll help you disembark, make sure you reach your pick-up, and say our farewells. Your transfer will then get you home, dropping you off at your front door.
We can’t wait to see you on your next Limitless holiday!

How does Limitless assist with check in and boarding?
Having met the Limitless Team at the port, we'll accompany you to the special assistance check-in. As it's separate from regular check-in, there are no crowds or lengthy queues.
You'll then be given a boarding time. Usually, we board as a group. However, if this isn't possible and you would like the assistance, we ensure a carer accompanies you onto the ship.
We board via the accessible gangway. This ramp connects the ship to the port. If you require support or assistance, both the Limitless Team and the ship's crew will be on hand to help. There are also manual wheelchairs available to make this transfer easier.
On some ships, the accessible gangway can be a little steep. In these instances, two crew members will provide support - one in front and one behind. You'll never be rushed and your safety and comfort are always the priorities.
Remember, you don't need to pre-book any special assistance at the port! We provide this assistance as standard with all Limitless cruises.

What are anchor ports and is Limitless responsible for port changes?
At Limitless Travel, we carefully select cruise itineraries with minimal anchor ports. Anchor ports are those destinations where port logistics mean a small boat or ‘tender’ transport is required to ferry guests to shore. In the vast majority of cases, these tenders are not accessible and some Limitless Travellers will not be able to leave the ship.
Unfortunately, port changes can happen due to any number of reasons while at sea. Limitless Travel cannot be held accountable for any such port changes.
Which side of the ship is best for fjords?
On our Norwegian fjord cruises, both sides of the ship typically guarantee spectacular views of the fjords. However, selecting the “best” side of the ship often depends on the itinerary specifics.
Generally, the starboard (right-hand) side might be slightly better if you’re cruising north and the port (left-hand) side if you’re heading south. In both instances, this is because that side of the ship will spend more time facing the coastline.
Modern cruise ships are designed to maximize visibility and the open decks and public viewing areas guarantee everyone has access to striking 360-degree vistas. On Limitless Norwegian Fjords Cruises, there are always plenty of opportunities to use these facilities.
Is the sea rough in the Norwegian fjords?
The waters in the Norwegian fjords are generally much calmer than the open sea, thanks to the fjords' narrow and sheltered characteristics. This makes Norwegian fjord cruises an excellent choice for those concerned about sea sickness.
The cruise ship will be out on the open sea when travelling to, from and between fjords. Here, rougher seas are possible but entirely dependent on the weather, conditions, and season. Modern cruise ships are well-equipped with stabilisers to counteract rougher seas and minimise the motion you feel, ensuring a comfortable onboard experience.
