** Limitless Travel carefully pick out cruise Norwegian Fjords cruise itineraries to ensure minimal anchor ports (where a small boat or ‘tender’ transports guests to shore) Unfortunately port changes can happen due to a number of reasons while at sea. Limitless Travel will not be held accountable for any port changes.
Today your adventure begins! Either join our transfer to the cruise port or park your car in the complimentary parking; before we board P&O's Iona cruise ship. The largest vessel in the P&O fleet, the Iona was launched in 2019 and boasts a beautiful, contemporary style and the latest facilities.
Our care team will help you check-in your bags, after which they’ll be taken directly to your room. As you’re staying in an accessible cabin, you also benefit from Priority Embarkation.
Your first day on the water will see us make our way around the English coast and up into the North Sea. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore the ship, sit back and take in the spectacular sea views and make use of the onboard facilities.
Fancy catching a film in the four-screen cinema complex? No problem. Prefer a cocktail in the Club House? The Iona’s skilled bartenders await you. As always, our experienced care team will be on-hand throughout the day to help you make the most of your experience.
Stavanger, a former European Capital of Culture, with a rich tapestry of history and culture waiting to be explored on your Nordiccruise. The city is heaven for culture vultures, boasting an impressive mix of museums, galleries and events celebrating Norway’s rich heritage. The gateway to Norways spectacularly scenic fjordland, Stavanger is also a town with its own rich heritage as it is regarded as the 'Cradle of the Vikings'.
This small city celebrates its lively heritage dating back to 872 when Viking King Harald Hårfagre founded the Kingdom of Norway in nearby Hafrsfjord. But there’s more to the Vikings than pillaging and plundering. As you’ll find out, these bearded warriors were pioneering explorers, canny traders, skilled craftsmen and artful storytellers with a dark sense of humour.
Day 4: Olden, Innvikfjorden (cruise-by), & Nordfjord (cruise-by)
The peaceful village of Olden has the perfect Fjordland cruise setting - nestling at the southern end of one branch of the beautiful Nordfjord and at the entrance to the gorgeous Oldedalen Valley.
Olden is blessed with a beautiful fjordic coastline, towering mountains and the biggest glacier on mainland Europe, Jostedalsbreen. There’s easy access to both the Briksdal and Kjenndalen glaciers, plunging dramatically into the valleys below. Crystal-clear Lake Oldevatnet is set among steep mountains and roaring waterfalls. In a nutshell, it’s Norwegian nature at its finest.
In the early evening we'll set sail again cruising through Innvikfjorden & Nordfjord - camera at the ready.
Day 5: Hellesylt, Geirnagerfjord (cruise-by), Sunnylvsfjorden (cruise-by), & Strorjorden (cruise-by)
Nearby Geiranger might be more widely known, but the UNESCO World Heritage listed village of Hellesylt seems determined not to be overshadowed by its more famous neighbour. Surrounded by towering, snow-capped peaks and with a spectacular roaring waterfall cascading through the centre of the village and directly into the fjord, the former Viking settlement is every inch the quintessential Norwegian fjord town.
The slogan of the Norwegian Tourist Board; "Powered by Nature", could have been created with Hellesylt in mind, and the village offers ample opportunity to revel in the great outdoors. Enjoy the majestic scenery at your own pace; it's easy to get up close and personal with the beauty and wildlife of the Sunnylvsfjorden simply by stepping ashore to explore. History buffs should make Sunnylven church their first port of call; this wooden parish church was constructed in its current incarnation in 1859, although the origins of the church date back to at least 1150.
Haugesund, homeland of the Viking kings and birthplace of Norway, is a place where you can inhale the Viking spirit. Surrounded by beautiful coastline, spectacular waterfalls and majestic fjords it's no wonder the kings called this extraordinary setting home. Populated for thousands of years, you can walk in the footsteps of the great kings at the Nordvegen History Centre and travel back over 3,500 years.
St Olav's Church, dating from 1250 AD, is a monument to the former days of glory, and next to the church stands one of Norway's tallest pillars, Virgin Mary's Sewing Needle. In nearby Rehaugene you can explore the 'Pyramids of the North' - six intriguing Bronze Age, earthen burial mounds. And if you are feeling like a spot of retail therapy, you're in luck - not only is Haugesund filled with charming markets it's also home to Norway's longest pedestrian street.
Today, we’ll sail our way down through the North Sea as we make our way back to Southampton. Why not have breakfast delivered to your state room, wind down by the pool (hoists available) or get involved in the onboard games, pay a visit to the casino or join in with any of the alternative activities on offer? Every night, the ship’s stages come alive with spectacular shows, comedy acts and karaoke, while the restaurants serve up an excellent array of culinary treats.
After your last breakfast, we’ll help you check-out. Your bags will be taken down by the Iona’s crew and our care team will be on-hand to assist you. From here you will join the transfers back to the pick-up points, relaxed, rejuvenated and ready for your next Limitless adventure. We can’t wait to see you again!
