The Phone Call That Changed Everything

First, A Change of Plan

I’d started Limitless in 2015 as a website only—a kind of ‘TripAdvisor for disabled travel’—but I quickly realised the real problem wasn't a lack of information. People weren’t travelling because they either felt they couldn't, or that it would be too much hassle if they tried.

That's when we changed direction. Instead of just giving advice, we decided to create the trips ourselves and use our personal experience of travelling with a disability to remove the barriers for others - handling every detail from accessible transport to personal care.

Waiting for a Call

I went out and bought a £10 phone, hoping to receive some enquiries for the two holidays we had created.

For two days, it didn’t ring.

I was in a swimming pool changing room when the first call came in. It was a man named Martin English. I stood there dripping wet, trying to sound professional. He was engaged, curious, and genuinely excited. I rushed home, emailed him the details, and two days later he booked!

After one year of worrying, Martin's “yes” meant everything.

Heading South

I remember that first journey down to Devon being a mix of nerves and excitement, for both myself and the guests. For many, it was their first holiday in years, and I so badly wanted it to go well.

On the coach there was a real buzz. People who had been nervous minutes before were now laughing, really laughing.

When everyone rebooked at the end of the trip, it confirmed that the hard work was worth it, what we were providing was important and needed.

We were giving people back a part of their lives they thought they had lost, and this was just the start.

Since that first trip to Devon, we've taken over 6,000 people on incredible holidays to destinations around the world. Thank you to all who have chosen to travel with us!
