Holiday Overview

Whether you seek a relaxing sun-kissed escape or a fascinating insight into the rich history of Spain and Portugal, this accessible cruise holiday is the ideal chance to explore some of Iberia's premier holiday destinations. Setting sail from Southampton, you'll journey south on P&O's renowned Ventura cruise ship, indulging in the full array of onboard amenities along the way.

Your first Stop is Vigo, a historic Galician town with a deep connection to the ocean. It's then on to Lisbon, Portugal’s enthralling capital. Staggeringly beautiful, undeniably charming and one of the trendiest cities in Europe, you’re sure to fall in love with this colourful metropolis. Staying in Portugal its the perfect opportunity to see Leixoes, an important port just a few kilometres north of Porto. The last port before returning home is Cherbourg in France. Set on the Normandy coast the town is famous for its link to the ocean and has a large maritime history. It is also known for its starring role in the 1960s film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, with many visitors to the area acquiring an umbrella as a souvenir.

Throughout your trip, you’ll be accompanied by the Limitless Team, who will provide care, support and assistance as and when you require it. On the ship, your cabin is fully accessible, as are the vast majority of the Ventura's other facilities. With several restaurants, swimming pools, entertainment venues, a steam room and sauna and a large cinema, there’s plenty to enjoy when you spend the day at sea.

Please note that on the 12th July 2025 departure the ship will stop in Guernsey instead of Cherbourg. If you would like more information about this or the accessibility aboard the Ventura, we recommend getting in touch with one of the Limitless Travel Advisors on 0800 711 7112.

Vigo

Land Ahoy! After breakfast today you will have the chance to visit your first Port accompanied by the Limitless Travel staff. Vigo, Spain's bustling fishing hub, is situated on the rugged west coast of the Galicia province. Galicia's largest city is a dynamic modern metropolis, harmonising one of the world's busiest fishing ports with an atmospheric old quarter. It boasts numerous beautiful beaches at its doorstep and a vibrant nightlife scene featuring tapas bars, restaurants, and clubs.

The local seafood, considered among the best in Spain, benefits from the area's unique microclimate. Pulpo (octopus) holds the title of the local favourite, often enjoyed with glasses of Galician Albariño. For seafood enthusiasts, a visit to Ruá de Pescaderia (Fish Street) is a must, where Vigo's renowned women oyster sellers showcase their offerings.

Porto

Lisbon, Portugal

Today the ship will be making port in the vibrant Portuguese capital of Lisbon, a perennial favourite among Limitless traveller's. Ensure your camera is ready, as you'll have the opportunity to capture the charming, colourful scenery and savour delicious custard tarts.

Some of the most stunning views of the Portuguese capital unfold as your ship cruises along the Tagus River, passing iconic landmarks like the Belem Tower and the impressive Monument to the Discoveries, featuring a statue of Henry the Navigator. Upon arriving at the Lisbon cruise port, take note that although compact for a European capital, the city sprawls a bit. It's advisable to focus on specific districts such as Baixa, Bairro Alto, and Alfama, each possessing its own distinctive charm. Baixa boasts bustling streets adorned with inviting shops, cafes, and restaurants, while Alfama presents the atmospheric old town characterised by medieval and Moorish-style buildings, wrought-iron balconies draped with trailing flowers, and a mix of quaint shops and bars.

Leixoes

Porto (Leixoes), Portugal

After another hearty breakfast today we visit Leixoes, an interesting destination in its own right, with a unique seafaring heritage, plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants to discover and a laid back feel.

However, if you would rather visit the cutting-edge architecture and winding alleyways of Porto, you can upgrade onto an escorted tour of the city. While the tour is organised and provided by P&O, our carers can join you and provide support and assistance along the way if booked onto a 1-to-1 package. For more information regarding how to arrange this please speak with our specialist cruise team on 0800 7117112.

Why not treat yourself to a tranquil massage at the Spa, or perhaps a visit to the onboard hairdresser awaits? Alternatively, venture into The Metropolis, a captivating venue designed to immerse you in the allure of the world's most vibrant destinations. Here, a breathtaking 20-meter floor-to-ceiling video wall showcases iconic cityscapes, allowing you to sip your favorite apéritif while gazing upon the enchanting vistas of Paris, New York, or Sydney.

Cherbourg
Cherbourg

Cherbourg, France

Another day, another destination to explore - welcome to France! The ship usually docks at the pretty Quay de France, which is a 15 minute walk to the city centre. Cherbourg is best known for two things: its seafaring heritage and its starring role in the 1960s film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Discover the former at the Cité de la Mer (City of the Sea) museum, where you can enter a hulking nuclear submarine and marvel at 17 incredible aquariums, including one that’s more than 10m deep.

Please note on the 12th July 2025 sailing, the ship will dock in Guernsey instead of Cherbourg. For more information please feel welcome to call our friendly team on 0800 711 7112 who would be more than happy to help.
