Day 2 - Guided Tour of Marrakech

< >
One of the most atmospheric and enjoyable holiday destinations on the planet, the bustling streets of Marrakech were made to be explored. Today, we’ll be visiting the city to discover its world-famous mosques, medinas and souks on a guided tour. As well as all the well-known attractions, keep an eye out for snake charmers, acrobats and musical performers, as the streets are always alive with entertainment. There will also be plenty of opportunities to pick up a few souvenirs and purchase clothes, crafts, jewellery and spices from one of the city’s many markets. Then, it’s on to Jemaa el-Fnaa, Marrakech’s main square, and the gold-tipped spurs of the city’s ancient palaces. To round out the day, we’ll make our way to Majorelle Garden - a two and half acre botanical garden created by the French Orientalist artist, Jacques Majorelle. After the intensity of the city centre, it’s a fantastic place to relax, unwind and watch the world go by.

One of the most breathtaking mountain ranges in Africa, the Atlas Mountains stretch for almost 1,000 km and encompass some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes. On Day Three of your holiday, we’ll be heading high up into the hills to explore hidden Berber villages and experience the grandeur of Morocco’s tallest peaks first-hand. We’ll visit the small towns of Asni and Imlil, where you’ll get a taste of mountain life before stopping for lunch in a traditional family home. For all the foodies out there, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sample one of the world’s greatest cuisines in a truly authentic setting.

Famed for its cool climate and poplar trees, the Zat Valley is emblematic of the remarkable diversity of landscape found in the Atlas Mountains. Here, lush greenery is punctuated by craggy outcrops and the steep cliffs play home to manicured gardens and rough, rock-hewn houses, all of which is enveloped in the quiet calm of rural life. We’ll spend Day Five of the holiday visiting the area and touring some of its most famous attractions. On the way back to the hotel, we’ll stop at Tighdouine’s famous souk, which is renowned for its handcrafted, artisan pottery. Then, it’s time to freshen up and dine out on a sensational evening meal.
